Dawn of War

GW's latest computer game set in the 40K Universe!

Finally upgraded our computer enough to run the game, and WOW does this game live up to all the positive reviews! Not only that, but GW has made editing software for this available so that people can create their own scenarios, and modify armies (perhaps even create new armies as well - I'm not sure). If you've not yet seen this game in action I highly recommend it - it's hard to beat seeing your army actually running about blasting their foes :)

In this photo we can see Blood Angels in the top half of  the screen engaging orks on the lower half, this battle is actually happening in a river - we were using whirlwinds to create a curtain of fire across part of the river (screen left) you can see the shell craters from recent impacts are still visible. We had a whole series of defensive firestations just upriver (and just out of view in this image) that were helping to pour fire into the oncoming orks, but we had to bring up armor right into the middle of the fight to help stop the ork onslaught - the fighting was quite ferocious, but in the end the assault was repulsed, and eventually we were able to carry a new assault across the river and make a beachhead in ork territory. There's more to the story - but why listen to me when you can get the game and live out your own battles! :)

I think the funniest thing is that this computer game has actually encouraged me to make all kinds of new models for our tabletop game - who knew a computer game could do that?
