Scenery for Fires & Explosions
here's how I did it!
Who knew what fun you could have with stuffing and spray paint! Suddenly there's a lot more fire around here :-)  Below is the unedited image so you can see how cool the smoke and flames are just sitting on the gametable, and below that is exactly how I did it :-)

How I made this...

It's SO easy! Just get some pillow stuffing from your local fabric store, grab a few handfulls and go outside with your orange and black spraypaint. I laid the "smoke clouds" onto a sheet of posterboard (so my paint wouldn't kill the grass!) and I first painted the orange on the undersides for the flames - it looked like this...

Then I painted the tops of them with the black and suddenly they looked like this...

and whammo I was done - instant flaming smoke clouds :-)

The top pictures show what they look like under good lighting conditions, they seem to work pretty well :-)  Explosions and smaller fires are made the exact same way except that I shaped the pillow stuffing into more appropriate "explosion" and "fire" shapes and just painted them orange. The more subtle shading become apparent when you take your photos :-)  using a "blur" tool in your graphics program can add real life to your explosions!

Well I hope this has helped make your games more fun! enjoy!
