Latin Word & Phrases Useful in 40K
over time I've had to dig a bit to find latin to use on some of my banners - now I don't have a lot of latin in my banners I admit! but the idea is still fun - and I may yet do some :-)

Latin Words and Phrases for 40K . (5 Replies). galwe[].
 9/17/2001 23:34 (9/19/2001 16:18)

I decided to translate a list of words that frequently appear in Space Marine chapter names
(from an old White Dwarf article reprinted in Chapter Approved, p 117). It's been a while
since I've studied Latin so some of the conjugations may be a bit off, but that's ok. You don't
need to be entirely accurate for 40K because it's supposed to be High Gothic and not actually
Latin anyway. I also translated the names of the First and Second founding chapters and the
list of "later foundings". I am also including some Latin phrases I found while looking through
my old Latin notes. A lot of them could be used for mottoes on banners. Some of them are
more appropriate for Chaos standards. Let me know if there is anything not on the list that
you'd like to know and I'll see what I can do to fill in the gaps.
