The mighty Cup of DOOM! When I release my fate to the Cup of DOOM suddenly my bad luck with dice is no longer a factor and the games are always really exciting! :-) I was (and still am) just like so many gamers out there who have famously bad luck with dice - when I need to roll high I roll low - when I need to roll low I roll high, I have witnesses, we're talking statistically abberant dice rolling ability - it's absolutely freaky. Personally I think it's the payback for all my bizarre luck with dice in many games of Risk as a kid - I could seemingly roll sixes at will :-) But no as an adult, and certainly not in 40K! Things were awful, we all knew something had to be done about the problem but none of us knew what.... Then around Halloween I found the Cup of DOOM and our 40K games have never been the same. The Cup of DOOM is an admitedly creepy plastic goblet in the shape od a leering death's head - I put the dice in there and the Cup of DOOM takes over - I think of it as "fate" and things go however the cup (not me) seems fit :-) the games have become EVER so much more fun - my awful dice throwing ability is no longer a factor :-) The Cup of DOOM not only keeps the games right on the cutting edge of excitement - it also seems to have quite a fondness for Blood Angels, and a special love of heroes making dramatic last stands :-) The Cup of DOOM is an important part of our gaming around here :-) Katherine has still not forgiven me for letting our friend Mike use the cup on one occassion - I use it all the time but on this one day Mike was running Black Templars and his entire army was foundering on the edge of collapse - things which should have gone his way were turning against him - it was an unjust situation - I saw this, and offered for him to use the Cup of DOOM at this moment, and when he did so the Cup turned things around for him - the assault gained new strength and Mike's Black Templars went on to give the Sisters of Battle a real challenge that day! :-) Gotta love the Cup of DOOM :-) ~ Brother Edward |
