Sanguinary High Priest
(front view)
I wanted this mini to dominate the field - the giant banner, twin lightning
claws and dynamic pose all combine for quite a powerful appearance! I went
with a slightly different color combo on this banner, I trypically stick
with the red symbol on black background, or black symbol on red - but I
wanted something that stood out among my banners, to further highlight
this particular mini. With a pinch of luck I might even scare someone with
this mini - causing them to pay undue attention to it on the gameboard
- granted this will make life a little tougher for my Sanguinary High Priest
here, but he's tough, and besides - that would allow my other units to
advance with less resistance! :-)
The banner here was made with wrapping tissue paper - cut to size then
squirted with a fabric stiffner which caused it to wrinkle and curl a bit
(I was hoping to have that "wind blown" effect). It worked fairly well
but I'm hoping to learn ways to control it better for future banners. I
then painted it with Gore Red (the lighting here makes it look brighter
red than it really is) then I painted the BA symbol by hand (and gained
a few new grey hairs in the process!) then outlined the symbol with a teeny
line of black which goes a long way to making the symbol really stand out
:-) Naturally I cheated once again and used more gold to touch up that
black line on the inside of the symbol, and Gore Red to touch up any flubs
on the outside (I'm such a cheat!) :-)
