The topic came up in the GW 40K forum about the level of detail
that 'regular' minis received in our armies painting-wise. Somebody brought
to my attention that I didn't eally have any real closeups of my regular
troops, so on request I created a few photos of my 'standard' painting,
and I figured I might as well put them here on the site.
For my Sergeants & other character models I try to add extra details
to help them stand out, but these two marines are representative of the
"regular' space marines in my Blood Angels collection. Some have veteran
markings and some don't, but all have weathered red armor, painted bolters,
purity seals & chest eagles. Their eyes have all been dpainted, their
helmet mouthgrills are silver with thinned black ink to help define the
detail, and a silver rim is added to the vent rims on the backpacks. I'll
be honest and admit that I've not finished the silver rims on all the troops
yet - but most of them do have them, it's a never ending "work in progress"
you see ;)
The black knee pad with the red teardrop though - that's only on models
from my first squad, the others do not have squad markings of that sort
- but they do all have a black teardrop on one greave with a white number
(1-6) which denotes what tac squad they are in. In a funny coincidence
I see that by freak chance that squad marking can't be seen on either of
these minis. If a mini has a purity seal on a leg I tended to put the squad
marking on the other leg, and in the case of the first squad marine here
I tended to put the squad marking on the opposite greave.
