The Trenches of Insanity

Here's a closer look at the trenches, I've reduced their resolution to help the load time (sorry for the fuzziness). The little red dots you see along the middle of the board are Blood Angels - each is actually 12 inches away from the next (terrain height may make this look inaccurate) - but I'm trying to give you a sense of distance. In the far trenchline you can see a BA Landraider.

Notice the "no man's land" in the middle of the setup - it's just wide enough that troops can't get out of their trenches - move fire and assault the other trenches in one turn - they have to be exposed to fire for at least one turn. Jump pack troops can barely make it if things go their way. But generally speaking though, troops standing out in no-man's land are definitely within charge range of the troops in the enemy trenches - so it is a nasty decision to make to try going "over the top".

The complexity of this terrain has a serious effect on tactics - units in the trenches getting their 4+ invulnerable save - and any units getting out of the trenches are subject to fire from all over the board. Vehicles don't get very far because of the constant difficult terrain tests - skimmers might work, but they are subject to fire from all over the board, and I imagine they won't last long (I have yet to game it out - I just made this the last week of July).

or if you feel this would be a piece of cake (I can't see how though) don't worry - we can rearrange those boards to make no-man's land first, and solid trenches to defend the bunker... I personally want to shake the hand of whoever thinks they can take that easily... :-)
